NWEA
The overriding goal of the Regents Reform Agenda of the
New York State Board of Regents and the State Education Department
is to increase the academic achievement of all students.
At Menands School we are committed to improving the
achievement of each of our students.
As part of these efforts, we are now implementing “interim”
assessments in reading and in math to make sure that our students
are on track for achieving proficiency on the NYS assessments.
These interim assessments are called “MAPS” assessments –
Measures of Academic Progress.
All Menands students will be taking these computer-based
assessments three times a year.
The results from the MAPS assessments will inform teachers’
classroom instruction and will help to signal the objectives in the
curriculum that students have mastered and the objectives that need
to be reinforced.
