2019-2020 Budget Adoption

Based on the information and materials discussed during the Board workshop earlier this week, the Board is expected to adopt the 2019-2020 budget.

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the proposed 2019-2020 budget in the amount of $9,038,667.00.

Property Tax Report Card – Adoption

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District adopt the 2019-2020 property tax report card.

Star and Strand Transportation, Inc. Approval at CPI for 2019-2020 School Year

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the contract extension between Menands School and Star and Strand Transportation at CPI for the 2019-2020 school year. (Email from Star and enclosed for the Board)

Special Education Consulting Services Agreement – Loraine D. Thompson

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free  School District, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, hereby approve the Special Education Consulting Services Agreement for services provided by Lorraine D. Thompson.

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District accept the donation from Stewart’s Shops in the amount of $750.00.

Resolution    BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School  District accept the donation from Pay It Forward Together INC. for the Local Food Pantry in the amount of $100.00.

  1. ANNUAL BOCES BOARD ELECTION AND ADMINISTRATIVE BUDGET VOTE 2018-2019

        Administrative Budget Vote

Resolved that the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Albany-Schoharie-Schenectady- Saratoga Counties be authorized to expend the sums set forth in the Administrative Budget document in the total amount of $11,909,690 during the school year 2019-20 and to raise  such sum by assessments to component school districts, non-component school districts, other BOCES and other sources as required by law.  

BOCES Board Members (Vote for Four of the below-listed candidates)

The persons listed below have been nominated to serve on the BOCES Board of Education.  Each component school district Board of Education may cast one vote each for up to four (4)individual candidates, but there is no statutory requirement that they cast (1) vote per vacancy.  Only one vote may be cast for any one candidate.

  Four (4) positions for the term of 3 years

Enclosed for the Board is an Email from Suzanne Morris, dated March 13, 2019, resigning from her Teaching Assistant position from the Menands Union Free School District effective March 29, 2019.

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District accept the letter of resignation from Suzanne Morris, dated March 13, 2019, resigning from her positions as a Teaching Assistant from the Menands Union Free School District effective for March 29, 2019.

Calvin Chapman- Lunch Monitor

Enclosed for the Board is a letter from Calvin Chapman, dated April 5, 2018, resigning from his Lunch Monitor position with the Menands Union Free School District effective immediately.

Unpaid Leave of Absence -Shirah Bettinger Physical Education Teacher

Shirah Bettinger has requested to take an unpaid leave of absence for the remainder of her 12 week FMLA period from May 9, 2019 through June 5, 2019.

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School approve the unpaid leave request from Shirah Bettinger from May 9, 2019 through June 5, 2019.

Appointments

Substitute Teaching Assistant- Erin Lange

Resolution    BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School  District appoint Erin Lange to a substitute Teaching Assistant position commencing on March 25, 2019 through June 30, 2019 at a per diem rate of $94.

Substitute Teaching Position – Andrea Kostik

Resolution   BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District appoint  Andrea Kostic to a substitute teaching position commencing on April 29,  2019 to June 30, 2019 at the per diem rate of $180.

Chemical Hygiene Officer – Lorenz Herrmann

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District appoint Lorenz Herrmann to position of Chemical Hygiene Officer effective immediately through the end of the 2019-2020 school year at no additional compensation.
