Aug. 4 update from Dr. Long

As we continue to plan for reopening for the fall, I provide you with the following important information:

School Messenger

Beginning this week, the Menands School will begin using School Messenger to communicate with all parents and families.

School Messenger is a trusted, widely-used mass notification tool that will help facilitate timely communication of the latest updates to all of our families.

Our initial “test” message will go out this Thursday, August 6 at 12 noon. It will be sent to parent contacts currently in our student management system. At the onset, messages will arrive via voice and email. We will eventually add text as well. If you receive the message by email and phone, you are all set and nothing more is required on your part. If you do not receive the message, we may need to update your phone number or email address in our student management system. To do this, please contact Liz Mentiply at lmentiply@menands.org or (518) 465-4561, ext. 119.

Virtual Parent Forum on School Reopening

On Monday, August 10 at 5 p.m., prior to the regularly scheduled Board of Education Meeting, the district will host a Virtual Parent Forum to review our Reopening Plan. Information regarding how to access the forum will be posted on the district homepage. We encouraged all who are interested to join and learn more.

As always, do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at mlong@menands.org or via phone at (518) 465-4561, ext. 101.

Sincerely,

Dr. Maureen A. Long
Superintendent
