*It is expected that the board will immediately adjourn to Executive Session for the purpose of matters indicated below.  

The meeting will reconvene at 6:30 p.m. for the Public Session.  

There will be no action or discussion other than a motion to go into Executive Session at 5:30 p.m.  

PLEASE NOTE: During the Public Comment Sessions, members of the community may address the Board on agenda and non-agenda items.  The Board President may limit remarks of individual speakers to a reasonable time.  Speakers must identify themselves and the topic on which they would like to make remarks.

Members of the public also have an opportunity at the end of the evening’s agenda to ask questions or voice concerns or comments on matters not formally noted on the agenda.  We appreciate everyone’s cooperation.

 9.  BUSINESS MATTERS

            Business Office for Approval

             Tax Rate for 2020-21

 Enclosed is a memo from Mrs. Cietek dated August 20, 2020 outlining the revised 2020-2021 tax rate.

Resolution: WHEREAS the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District has been authorized by the voters at the Annual School District Meeting to raise for the budget of the 2020-2021 school year a sum not to exceed  $9,824,370.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education fix the equalized tax rates by towns and confirm the extension of the taxes as they appear on the following, revised tax roll:

            2020-2021 Intermunicipal Agreement (ENL Services) North Colonie

 Resolution:   BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the intermunicipal agreement between Menands UFSD and North Colonie Central School District for ENL services for the 2020-2021 school year as per the attached agreement.

            

Contracts for Approval

 St. Coleman’s Home, Inc – Special Education Services Agreement for 2020-2021

 Enclosed for the Board is a copy of the St. Coleman’s Home, Inc., Special Education Services Agreement for the 2020-2021 school year.

Resolution    BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the Agreement for Services between Menands School and the 

St. Coleman’s Home, Inc. for the 2020-2021 school year as per the attached agreement, and contingent upon final decision of the Committee on Special Education, and student participation.

            

Center For Disability Services, Inc. – Agreement for Services Contract for 2020-2021

             Enclosed for the board if a copy of the Center for Disability Services, Inc. contract for Services Agreement for the 2020-2021 school year.

 Resolution   BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School Districtapprove the contract between Menands School and The Center for Disability for the 2020-2021 school year as per the attached agreement, and contingent upon final decision of the Committee on Special Education, and student participation.

10.  PERSONNEL MATTERS

 Appointments

 Teacher Aide – Ashley Jewett

 Resolution    BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve Ashley Jewett as a teacher aid effective for the 2020-2021 school year

Teacher Aide – Dayna Kain

 Resolution    BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve Dayna Kain as a teacher aid effective for the 2020-2021 school year

Staffing

 Superintendent’s Recommendation:  That the Board of Education authorize the Superintendent to appoint employees on a temporary basis with the understanding that the Board of Education will make the final determination at the next subsequent Board of Education meeting.

Resolution    Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District hereby grant Superintendent, Dr. Maureen Long the authority to appoint employees on a temporary basis with the understanding that the Board of Education will make the final determination at the next subsequent Board of Education meeting.

 11.  BOARD OF EDUCATION MATTERS

             CSE/CPSE Recommendations 

Resolution    BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the CSE/CPSE recommendations as submitted.
