One seat up for election 2019

There is one open seat on the Board of Education and one candidate is running. Courtney Jaskula has provided the following information regarding her candidacy.

“A capital region native, I moved to Menands six years ago with my husband and first daughter. We fell in love with the community and have been proud to call Menands home ever since.

A year before my second daughter was to start kindergarten, I took a break from my career in engineering and manufacturing to be a stay at home mom. Once both of my children were in school I sought opportunities to become more involved in education and in the Menands community including substitute teaching at Menands and other area schools.

I became an active PTA member and then treasurer for the PTA executive board. I started to attend school board meetings to learn more about the issues that are important to our school and our community.

When a seat on the board opened up mid-school year I was appointed to fill the position. In my short time serving on the board I have gained an even greater appreciation for the important position school board members hold and I have been grateful for this opportunity to serve my school and my community.

Whether I serve as a parent, a PTA member, or a school board member, I will always work to advocate for our school and our community to make sure our students have the tools and support they need to succeed during their time at Menands school and beyond.
