Sept. 13: One confirmed case of COVID-19

Dear Menands Families,

The district learned on Monday, Sept. 13 that an individual in the Menands school community has tested positive for COVID-19. The case required contact tracing, and all individuals who need to quarantine have been notified.

Similar to last year, we are committed to informing our families when we have a positive case. We will be reporting our cases to the NYS Dashboard beginning this week, and also report any new cases on our 2021-22 COVID-19 updates and information page on our website.

After this week, any positive cases will be included in our weekly update. Please remember you can check cases daily on the New York State COVID Report Card.

With high community transmission at this time, we are following all prevention measures in accordance with our layered mitigation protocols. Just a reminder, if your student is exhibiting any of the following symptoms, please stay home, contact our school nurse and your healthcare provider: Fever or chills; cough; shortness of breath or difficulty breathing; fatigue; muscle or body aches; headaches; new loss of taste or smell; sore throat; congestion or runny nose; nausea or vomiting; or diarrhea.

With these protocols in place, we are confident we can continue daily in-person instruction while keeping our students and staff safe.

Sincerely,

Dr. Maureen Long – mlong@menands.org
