It is so exciting to see progress in our building project. I thank you for your patience and continued support in making our building the best educational space for our students.
We are approaching the completion of all additions, and this summer will transition to the renovation of certain areas of the building. A limited portion of that work will include asbestos abatement. In the past, asbestos was used extensively in building materials because of its insulating, sound absorbing, and fire retarding capabilities. Virtually any building constructed before the late 1970s contained some asbestos.
In compliance with regulation, any time work of this nature will be conducted, proper notice is required. In the coming days and weeks, notices will be posted on every entrance of the building alerting parents and other visitors of the upcoming abatement. Though the notices need to be posted in the near future, this work will not commence until after the close of the school year. When the work is conducted, all required safety protocols will be adhered to, along with monitoring by a third-party entity.
No asbestos-related work will be conducted while students are in the building.
