In the event of inclement weather
At times the weather makes travel to school difficult. When this occurs to ensure safety, a decision may be made to delay or cancel the opening of school. We make the decision thoughtfully and as early as possible. The information is posted to our webpage, using the local media/TV, and shared through the Everbridge Notification System. The PTA has also regularly posted announcement on their Facebook page.
In the event school is delayed one hour, students should not arrive before 9:10 a.m. For a two-hour delay, they should not arrive before 10:10 a.m.
Ways to be informed
Everbridge is our best means of communication. If you are not already a subscriber, you may join here. Please remember to check the box to receive “Menands School” notifications. We use the system to inform the school community of upcoming events, to communicate time-sensitive information, and to report school closings or delays. Messages can be received via phone, text message, email, or any combination of those. It is a great communication tool made available to use by the village. We encourage everyone to sign up.
We also encourage all members of the school community to “like” the PTA Facebook page. It is a great source of information. Also, our webpage is updated regularly and we encourage families to monitor it for the most up-to-date information.
