Public Information Specialist
Part-time Position
With a population of approximately 300 students, Menands Union Free School District is a unique Pre-K-8th grade school. We are a very supportive school community and work collaboratively to meet the diverse needs of our students in a nurturing environment.
Menands School is accepting applications for a part-time public information specialist (not to exceed 20 hours per week) who is passionate about telling our school’s story and strengthening communication with our school community. There is the potential to allow some work to be done from home. The successful candidate will:
- Advise the superintendent of schools on communication needs and strategies
- Write and support internal and external communications – long and short-term pieces
- Research best practices to inform communications plan
- Develop communication goals with district leadership and work to meet those goals
- Collaborate with school staff and faculty
- Photography and video experience is preferred but not required
Qualifications and Salary:
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with at least a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional experience in journalism, writing, public administration, marketing, public relations, or public policy OR
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with at least an Associate’s degree and four (4) years of professional experience in journalism, writing, public administration, marketing, public relations, or public policy OR
- High School Diploma or GED and six (6) years of experience in journalism, writing, public relations, marketing, or in advertising
- $30.00 per hour
