Non- Instructional Vacancies

Menands School, a unique K-8 School & District, is conducting continuous recruitment to fill a number of positions for the 2021-22 school year. We are a small, supportive school community, and work collaboratively to meet the diverse needs of our students in a nurturing environment.

    School Nurse

    Menands School is accepting applications for a full time (10 month) School Nurse.  

    Job duties include:

    • Daily care of students and oversight of student health and well-being.
    • Serving as a resource for parents and families.
    • Participating as a valued and contributing member of the district’s instructional support and crisis intervention teams.

    The successful candidate will enjoy the benefits of being a part of the Menands Association of Teachers, including: health care, school vacations and holidays, and membership in the retirement system.

    Classroom Aides & Substitute Classroom Aides

    The successful candidate will provide classroom support for students during the school day; assisting with organization & management, including implementation of behavior plans. Preferred applicants will have experience working in a classroom.

    Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (school calendar). $12.50 -$16 per hour dependent upon experience. Candidates must have a high school diploma.     Substitute Lunch Aides

    The successful candidate will provide assistance and supervision of students during lunch periods, and help to facilitate and maintain a clean safe dining environment. Preferred applicants will have experience working with children and/or in food service.

    Hours vary between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (school calendar). $12.50 -$15 per hour dependent upon experience. Candidates must have a high school diploma.     Substitute Custodian/Cleaner

    The successful candidate will provide coverage for custodial staff.  General responsibilities include cleaning and disinfecting classroom and other areas of the school building. Preferred applicants will have custodial experience.

    Instructional Vacancies

    Building Substitute 

    With a population of approximately 300 students, Menands Union Free School District is a unique K-8 school and district.  We are a very supportive school community, and work collaboratively to meet the diverse needs of our students in a nurturing environment.  

    Menands School is accepting applications for a Building Substitute to begin as soon as possible and through the end of the school year.  The successful candidate will report daily and will be assigned as needed to any of our K-8 classrooms or learning environments.  Preference will be given to candidates pursuing or holding NYS teaching certification.  The rate of compensation will be $110 per day.
