Secretary to the Superintendent

Location: Menands Union Free School District, 19 Wards Lane, Menands, NY 12204
Salary/Pay Scale: $42,000-$50,000
Position Summary/Purpose: There is a vacancy for a Secretary to the Superintendent. This is a full-time,12-month (year-round) Civil Service Exempt position. It is anticipated that the Secretary to the Superintendent will also be appointed as the District Clerk on an annual basis, performing tasks related to School Board operations, meetings, and budget votes.
Responsibilities & Skills: Acts as confidential administrative assistant to the Superintendent of Schools; Handles incoming and outgoing correspondence for Superintendent; Processes documents for the Superintendent; Manages communication for Superintendent; Maintains calendar and arranges appointments as required; Arranges accommodations for conferences and workshops; Prepares for meetings; Carries out Notary Public services for the District; Assists in processing reporting requirements; Assists with oversight of technology and maintenance work order systems; Serves as District Registrar; Assists with the coordination of transportation. Serves as a liaison for the Superintendent in the community.
Requirements & Qualifications: High School Diploma (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred); Administrative experience; Notary Public License, or willingness to pursue becoming a licensed Notary upon appointment; A strong technology skill set, including proficiency in the use of MS Word and Google, and ideally experience with student management and school finance programs; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, community members, teachers, students, and administrators; Ability to work cooperatively with professional staff; Ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy in dealing with confidential and sensitive matters and materials.

Full Time Evening Custodian
Summary: The Custodial Worker works under the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds and the Business Manager and performs manual work in cleaning and and caring of school district property and adjacent yards. The Custodial Worker also does minor maintenance tasks. While performing the duties of this job, the custodial worker is regularly required to stand for extended periods; walk; use hands, climb or balance. The Custodial Worker must frequently lift and/or move more than 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
