May 13 notification of COVID case

The district learned Thursday of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the Menands School community. District leaders are working closely with the Albany County Department of Health to supply contact tracing information. Any students or staff members who were considered a close or proximate contact have been contacted by a school administrator and will also be contacted by the Department of Health to discuss the need to quarantine and other related information.

Please remember that the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict the district from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information and we cannot identify anyone who has tested positive.

The number of individuals who need to quarantine following this confirmed case has had a minimal impact, and in-person instruction will continue.

All health and safety measures remain fully in effect throughout the district. They include mask wearing, social distancing, enhanced cleaning and disinfecting, and the submission of a daily health screening form.

We will continue to work closely with the Albany County Department of Health and communicate any necessary updates. Please reach out to one of us if you have any questions or would like more information about health and safety procedures.
