School officials will celebrate black history and excellence during a community-wide event at the school on Feb. 26.
The Black History Month Celebration runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the school, which is located at 19 Wards Lane in the village.
Open to the entire community, the celebration will feature musical performances drumming, singing, stepping, hands-on cultural activities, and a free barber.
Tours of the school to see various student projects that marked Black History Month will also be offered.
The event is the culmination of a monthlong celebration in the Menands School of Black History. Students have spent the month researching the contributions of a variety black Americans ranging from scientists and politicians to Olympians.
