Students sing in front of nursing home residents

A Menands School choir recently brought holiday cheer to residents of the Teresian House.

Student presents card to a residentTwenty-one elementary and middle school students sang a medley of holiday tunes for the residents under the guidance of teacher Connie Marie Rao. They also distributed holiday greeting paper decorated and created by their younger Menands peers.

The songs—some of which were sung acapella and others with Rao accompanying them on keyboard—included Favorite Things, Deck The Halls, Feliz Navidad, Jingle Bell Rock, Santa Claus Is Comin to Town, Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer, Jingle Bells and 12 Days of Christmas.

Many of the residents danced and sang along to the tunes as the students’ beamed with pride.

“It was a fantastic opportunity for the students to share their talents with very reactive and appreciative residents of the community,” Rao said.
