School officials detail timeline for the approved Capital Project

Architectural plans for the addition School officials and architects are hard at work preparing Capital Project work approved by voters in May.

District leaders and architects will have a series of meetings over the coming months as they finalize the design phase of the $6.725 million project. The New York State Education Department will then begin reviewing the project, and it is expected to take several months for approval.

Superintendent Jennifer Cannavo said the bidding process for contractors to submit their proposals to complete the work is expected to take place during the fall and winter of 2026 with ground expected to be broken in the spring of 2027.

The work is expected to take a year to complete.

“We understand the process takes time and will ensure the project is completed in a timely, but also cost-effective way,” said Cannavo.

The Capital Project will provide additional classrooms to address fluctuations in student enrollment and educational mandates. A total of 3,585 square feet of new space will be added to expand educational opportunities for students. The project will also address long-term issues within the school, including aging infrastructure, such as two 30-year-old boilers and dated and drafty windows.
