June 10: Friday Update

Good afternoon Menands families!

What a beautiful day we are having – perfect for our annual Field Day! It was also nice enough for our Sunshine and Sparkle clubs to greet their peers upon arrival this morning, with special guests Officers Stone and Kullman.

Thank you to our staff, PTA and volunteers for helping make our highly anticipated Field Day a success. It was such a fun day for students to be active outdoors! Look out for photos on our Facebook and website in the coming days.

We would also like to thank the families and members of the community who participated in our Career Day this past Wednesday. Students were able to learn about careers from across industries and ask questions about our guests’ career journeys.

Our A-Z countdown continues. This week, for “New Beginnings” day, students made heartfelt cards for our retiring teachers, Mrs. Green and Ms. Testo. Learn more about their favorite Menands moments and what they are looking forward to in their new beginnings. Next week, the A-Z themes will be as follows:

June 13: Sunglasses Day
June 14: Tongue Twister Day
June 15: Ultimate Rock, Paper, Scissor Game!
June 16: Verano Birthdays – Celebrating summer birthdays!
June 17: Watermelon Day

On Monday, the Menands Board of Education will meet for their regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. If you’d like to attend, the meeting will be held in the Library Media Center and streamed online. The meeting link and agenda information will be posted on our website ahead of the meeting.

As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday, June 20 in observation of Juneteenth. Also, June 21 through 23 will be early release days.

This summer, the Village of Menands will host the Summer Park Program from Tuesday, July 5 through Tuesday, August 16 at Ganser-Smith Park. Sign-up information is available on our website. Additionally, families will be able to register campers Tuesday, July 5 at the park. Any questions can be directed to Brianna Coughlin via email at youthdirector@villageofmenands.com
