Field Day a Success

Another successful Field Day was held on Monday, June 16. Thanks to Mrs. Aileen Nicoll and the Menands PTA for all their efforts in overseeing and planning the day.  (photos)


Eighth Grade Class Trip

The Class of 2014 went to Boston for their class trip on Wednesday, June 11.  The students visited the Museum of Science, went on a Duck Tour of the city, and ended their day at Quincy Market.  (photos)

Menands School Budget Approved!

Thank you to the Menands School Community for approving the school budget.  Voter turnout was a bit higher than ususal with 151 people voting for the budget:  101 yes votes, 50 no votes.  This equates to support of 67%.

Joe Pustay and Jen Wilson were re-elected to the board.  Congratulations to them both. 

The library budget was passed as well, with Joe Kelley being re-elected to the library board.

Hoops for Heart Event

On Tuesday, May 13, the seventh grade health class, and their teacher, Mrs. Wheeler, sponsored a Hoops for Heart event to inform the student population about the importance of a heart healthy life style.  (photos)

The King and I  Presented by Menands School Drama Club

Author's  Visit

Author Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen came to Menands School on March 27. Ms. Bardhan-Quallen writes both fiction and nonfiction books for children and teens.  She conducted writing workshops for students in grades 5-8 and presented her fractured fairy tale style books to grades K-4.  She also joined students for literacy night later that day.  For more information on Ms. Bardhan-Quallen please see her website


Cultural Fair Held

In celebration of all of our families here at Menands School, the PTA is held a cultural fair on Thursday evening, March 6. For the second year in a row, our gym was transformed into a global arena with family run tables representing different countries and cultures, from around the world and within the United States. Register for First Call Notification System

The Village of Menands has made it possible for the Menands School District to be connected to their emergency notification system,entitled First Call. Through this system, the school will be able to send electronic messages to you about such emergencies as an early dismissal, or such notices as a reminder to vote on the annual school budget in May. Free and Reduced Lunch

If your family income or your family situation has changed, your child(ren) may be eligible to receive free and/or reduced priced meals in school. This includes both breakfast and lunch.
