On Thursday evening, January12, the band and grades 4-5 presented a winter concert, under the direction of Mrs. Sarah Horaczek, music teacher and band director. The concert showcased the way music is integrated with ELA and social studies. Mrs. Horaczek and her students are to be congratulated for a wonderful evening of music and dance. photos

School starts at Menands at 8:10 each day.
Parents who drive their children to school need to drop them
off as close to 8:10 as possible so that students are not marked as
tardy. Being in school
on time ensures that each student has a smooth start to the day.
The "MAPS" assessments (Measure of Academic Progress) are computer based assessments taken three times a year in order to inform teachers' classroom instruction. The assessments will help to signal the objectives in the curriculum that students have mastered and the objectives that need to be reinforced. more
By September 2012, all public school in the state need to be in full implementation of the new Common Core Learning Standards. We are being very ambitious in ensuring that our teachers have the professional development neede to transition to the changes equired by NYSED. more
While many school districts are experiencing a decline in their number of students, Menands School has reached the highest enrollment in its history. We currently have 259 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. more
