Update about Emergency Communication

Through the Village of Menands, we have an additional way of communicating changes in the school day schedule with you.  Through the new Everbridge notification system (please note this is a change from the Code Red notifiation system that we previously used), the school can send emergency messages to your home phone, cell phone, computer, smart phone and iPad.  All parents and guardians are urged to sign up for Everbridge, as this will make it much easier to communicate with you about emergencies and/or important notifications.  To register, go to Everbridge Resident Alert SystemOnce you have enrolled in the Everbridge notification system be sure to select to receive "Menands School Notifications".  Please remember to keep your phone numbers and email addresses up to date.

Menands School Unveils Conceptual Building Design Which Will Make Vision a Reality

The Menands School Community has spent considerable time over the past year and a half, with the assistance of Robert Hendriks of Educational Legacy Planning and the Architectural firm CSArch, to develop a vision for our school and plan to make that vision a reality.

The multiple conversations, planning sessions and forums resulted in the development of a vision, a subsequent “Ed Spec” and ultimately a conceptual building redesign. The work and pr
ogress to date have been captured via both video and print documents, and can be accessed via the school websitw: using the "Menands Legacy Plan" link, or at We look forward to your attendance and to sharing our vision for our school.  Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Dr. Maureen Long via email: or by phone (518) 465-4561.

A Vision for Menands School: Menands Legacy Planning Web Page

The Board of Education in collaboration with representatives from the entire Menands School Community continues their work of developing a vision of our school for the future. This vision will guide decisions relative to our building and facilities and a potential building improvement project.   Any project or improvements should be rooted in that vision - what we want for the children of our community, and not simply about bricks and mortar.  With the expertise, and under the guidance of Robert Hendriks, of Educational Legacy Planning, faculty, staff and members of the greater Menands community have been involved in the conversation.  This work has been captured on our own Menands Legacy Plan web site which can be accessed at the following link:

The vision will be finalized in the coming weeks, and the work to achieve it will continue.  Please continue to check the web site for updates and information.
