Dear Menands Parents and Families:
Happy Friday to you all! It’s such a beautiful day here at Menands School!
Before you begin your weekend, we would like to share some important information about upcoming dates and events. If you did not receive our message earlier this week regarding our security protocols, please take a moment to do so. This outline explains new and current information on how we at Menands School work to keep our students and staff safe.
The Menands PTA will have their board elections and general meeting on Tuesday, June 7 via Zoom. The meeting link will be made available on their Facebook page in the coming days. Additionally, the PTA has continued their sneaker drive fundraiser until the end of the school year. Please only place sneakers in the drop-box, located by the front office of the school.
Students in grades 5-8 will have the opportunity to participate in Career Day on Wednesday, June 8 during the school day. We are excited to bring a variety of professionals to come and speak to students about their educational and work experiences. This is our first in person career day since 2019 and we are looking forward to a day filled with learning and career exploration.
Our students are gearing up for our annual Field Day next Friday, June 10! We are grateful for our families who volunteered through the PTA to support field day activities. We look forward to field day next year when we can invite all families to attend.
The school year is quickly coming to an end. For planning purposes, we would like to make you aware of some end-of-year information. Our last week of school, there will be no school on Monday, June 20 in observation of Juneteenth. Also, June 21 through 23 will be early release days.
This summer we are pleased to once again be able to offer summer opportunities for students who could benefit from the supplemental instruction. If your child qualifies or is eligible for these services, you will receive a communication with more information.
The Village of Menands will be holding the Summer Park Program Tuesday, July 5 through Tuesday, August 16 at Ganser-Smith Park. Sign-up information will be available on our website. Additionally, families will be able to register campers Tuesday, July 5 at the park. Any questions can be directed to Brianna Coughlin via email at youthdirector@villageofmenands.com.
We hope you all get to enjoy the sunshine and warm weather this weekend. A few outdoor things to do include taking a walk through the Menands StoryWalk® on the purple trail on the Sage Estates Trail or visit the Town of Colonie pool and splash pad!
