*It is expected that the board will  immediately adjourn into Executive Session for the purpose of matters indicated below.  

The meeting will reconvene with the Reorganizational meeting followed by the Regular Meeting after Executive Session.There will be no action or discussion other than a motion to go into  Executive Session at 6:00 p.m.

10. BUSINESS MATTERS

Discussion Item

Reopening- Dr. Long updated the BOE about the plan that the district is working on to ensure a safe reopening for everyone in September. Board members asked some questions and shared their concerns in regards to the reopening of school.

Reserve Transfer – June 2020

 

 

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the authorization of the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District be given to transfer up to $40,000 to the Repair Reserve for the 2019-2020 school year.

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the authorization of the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District be given to transfer up to $7,000 to the Employee Benefit Accrued Liability Reserve for the 2019-2020 school year.

Reserve Transfer – For the 2020-2021 School Year

 

 

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District authorizes any retiree sick and vacation payouts during the 2020-2021 school year from the Employee Benefit Accrued Liability Reserve.

School District

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the SA 10 between Menands UFSD and the Watervliet City School District for students in grades 9-12 for the 2020-2021 school year.

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the intermunicipal agreement between Menands UFSD and the North Colonie Central School District for students in grades 9-12 for the 2020-2021 school year.

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the intermunicipal agreement for technology services between Menands UFSD and the South Colonie Central School District  for the 2020-2021 school year.

BOCES Cooperative Bidding and Purchasing 

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District adopt the BOCES cooperative bidding contract and food and cafeteria supplies cooperative bidding resolutions for the 2020-2021 school year.

AMSURE(Formally known as Adirondack Trust Insurance) Contract Renewal

Enclosed for the Board is a memo from Ms. Cietek with information in regards to the Contract renewal.

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that upon the recommendation of the Superintendent the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District hereby appoints Elizabeth Mentiply as a Provisional Keyboard Specialist in the competitive class of the civil service.

CSE/CPSE Recommendations 

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the CSE/CPSE  recommendations as submitted.

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the following substitute teachers for the 2020-2021 school year.

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the re-appointment of all substitute teachers for the 2020-2021 school year who were previously appointed through 6/30/20.

Substitute Teacher Compensation 

Dr. Long recommends that the Board set the substitute teacher pay rate as follows:

  • Per Diem Rate $100.00 

  • Long Term up to 6 weeks $180.00 per day

  • Long term beyond 6 weeks per MAT contract

Enclosed please find a copy of the 2020-2021 Health Services Contracts for students  attending private or parochial schools in the following districts:

  • East Greenbush School District- (7) students in the amount of $5,439.77.

  • Lansingburgh Central School District- (2) students in the amount of $1,236.96  *The residence of the students has been verified.

Resolution BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Menands Union Free School District approve the 2020-2021 Health Services Contracts for students  attending private or parochial schools as listed.

13. STUDENT MATTERS 

The total estimated enrollment for the 2020-2021school year to date is 311(this includes confirmed students for the incoming Kindergarten class). 33 Kindergarten registrations as of 7/8/2020.

 

14. SUPERINTENDENT’S COMMENTS

Graduation- Dr. Long thanked Mr. Hermann for all of his help with the graduation along with the maintenance staff, Menands DPW and everyone that helped out to make the event a success.
The students enjoyed the night and the speeches were great. 

School Safety Plan- Mrs. Schroeder and Mrs. Cannavo worked with BOCES on a comprehensive School Safety Plan that will be posted on the district website for 30 days and will be on the August agenda for approval.

15. INFORMATIONAL MATERIAL

 

Next Board of Education Meeting – August 10th at 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Long asked if the Board is available on August 24 if an additional BOE Meeting needs to be held to approve some new appointments.

16.  MISCELLANEOUS

Mr. Nevins reminded everyone that yearbooks were available.

Mr. Diefenderfer asked everyone to be kind and think of others during this time.

Mrs. Jaskula thanked the PTA board for pulling together the application for a $5,000 grant to help 

meet the social and emotional needs of the students.

Mrs. Wilson thanked everyone involved that helped to make graduation special for the graduates.
