A cast of about 40 students has been hard at work preparing to stage “Alice in Wonderland” at the Menands School.
The budding thespians will take the stage on March 27 at 6 p.m. and March 28 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets at the door cost $10 for adults and $7 for children.
It’s the first time in eight years Menands students have performed in “Alice in Wonderland.”
“I love the show; it’s so much fun to put together,” said Trisha O’Connell, Drama Club advisor.
The famed play is an adaptation of Lewis Caroll’s best-known children’s novel, which follows Alice as she falls down a rabbit hole into a dream-like fantasy world.
The story finds young Alice in a bizarre, nonsensical world called Wonderland, where she encounters strange creatures such as the grinning Cheshire Cat, the perpetually late Mad Hatter and March Hare at a tea party, a groovy Caterpillar, and the tyrannical Queen of Hearts.
Throughout these encounters, she tries to control her changing size and navigate the illogical rules of this fantastic realm.
Eighth grade student Evie Blanchette plays the title character.

“It’s been great working with a lot of people and putting this all together,” she said.
Blanchette said those coming to the show should expect a good time.
“It’s a great show, a lot of fun. People will enjoy themselves. Everyone that watches it should be very happy,” she said.
